On 11th November, we gathered for our Remembrance Day Service, beginning the morning with a reflective two-minute silence. Residents and staff came together to honour and remember the courage and sacrifice of our Service Men and Women.
The afternoon was made especially memorable by a visit from a group of Year 6 pupils from Swalecliffe Primary School. They arrived with their teacher to chat, mingle and spend time getting to know our residents. The children had thoughtfully created individual Remembrance Day cards for every single resident, each one filled with kind messages, questions and warm wishes.
It was a truly touching and meaningful visit for everyone involved, bringing generations together in a beautiful moment of shared remembrance.
Looking Ahead to Christmas
We are delighted that the pupils will be returning next month to sing Christmas carols and festive songs for our residents – an event we are all looking forward to very much.
A Personal Touch of Remembrance
The “red and green” tissue-paper poppy wreaths displayed on our wall were lovingly handcrafted by our residents in preparation for our service. Their creativity and care added an extra layer of warmth to the day.
An Afternoon Tribute
After the children returned to school, our residents enjoyed a special screening of “The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo” on DVD. The stunning performances and stirring music served as a fitting tribute to military bands and service personnel across the world.
It was a moving and memorable Remembrance Day at Lyndhurst, filled with reflection, connection and heartfelt gratitude.
