Here are a selection of one of our recent “Circle Craft” afternoons, where we had harvested fresh Lavender, to create and make our own lavender bags.
It was a wonderful and very aromatic afternoon, with some residents gathering the lavender buds off the stems, some residents were choosing from our fabric box different fabrics with which to make the bags with & preparing ribbons and woven wool thread with which to tie the filled lavender bags with. There was something for everyone to choose to do, and get involved with and all enjoyed the thrill of making something from our gardens with which we can use and enjoy, and have the satisfaction of keeping traditional hand crafts going.
It also created a wonderful Reminiscence session, of residents recalling memories of growing lavender in their gardens or visiting fields of lavender, plus making things with their children, and passing on traditional handi-crafts.
